Monster dance off!

Tour poster
There's nothing quite as thrilling as flipping through the "V" section at a used record shop and finding a new-t0-you Halloween compilation by Various Artists to spook up your evening. After basically creating a 200+ Halloween compilation album on this blog (and Spotify) over the last ten years, we've already covered many of the classics, like Halloween Hootenanny, several Elvira compilations, and perhaps the ultimate Halloween collection, the soundtrack to Return of the Living Dead.

One excellent Halloween collection we haven't yet heard from is the 2013 album Mondo Zombie Boogaloo. It's a surfy ride to the dark side with a couple of bands we've covered before--Los Straitjackets and Southern Culture on the Skids--and one we haven't--The Fleshtones. The Fleshtones perform my favorite tune on the whole album, "Sock It to Me Baby in the House of Shock." They bring their 70s NYC garage rock roots to a bopping 50s-sounding tune in which the Mummy, the Wolfman, Dracula, and Frankenstein get down at their favorite dance hall. At the end of the night, only the Wolfman is left standing. Why? Well, obviously. He is the best beast. Press play and get socked!
