In honor of 10/4, a.k.a. Good Buddy Day, today's song comes from the king of truck driver recitations, Red Sovine. And for those of you schooled in truck driver songs, you know that today's spooky selection can be none other than "Phantom 309." It's a classic hitchhiker-gets-picked-up-by-a-ghost tale, versions of which have made the rounds for decades, from campfires to Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. This song was a hit for Sovine in 1967 and still gets some airplay every once in a while, mainly on stations devoted to classic country music.
